Telling Your Stories with Oral Historian Ellie Kahn

How often have you thought about the great stories that comprise your family heritage and the importance of preserving them? While we all recognize the value of doing this, all too often it is too late. Oral Historian and documentarian Ellie Kahn will talk with us about the best ways to record the priceless stories of our family histories.

The program will include discussion, video clips, and breakout groups that will give us a chance to practice interviewing with each other with provided materials.

About Ellie Kahn

Los Angeles-based Oral Historian Ellie Kahn created Living Legacies Family Histories in 1988 in order to offer Oral History services to families and organizations. Ellie’s experience as
both a licensed psychotherapist and journalist proved to be an ideal background for her career. Also an award-winning documentary producer, Ellie has conducted hundreds of Oral
History interviews, producing both written and video projects for her clients that will last for many generations.

Some of the projects include interviewing Holocaust Survivors for Steven Spielberg’s Survivors of the Shoah Foundation, the Jewish Historical Society of Southern California and the documentary “Meet Me at Brooklyn and Soto” which won an LA Conservancy Preservation Award. Ellie is a frequent contributor to “The Jewish Journal of Los Angeles,” and a contributor to “Getting Good at Getting Older.” For more information about Ellie, visit  www.livinglegaciesfamilyhistories.com.
