Breaking the Israeli/Palestinian Cycle of Violence

About this event

We are joined by Ismail Assad and Yoni Kallai from Combatants for Peace. CFP brings together Israelis and Palestinians who have played a direct role in the Israeli-Palestinian cycle of violence to share their stories at speaking events around the world. Ismail and Yoni will discuss their work in the organization, give their thoughts on the conflict, and respond to audience questions.

In 2006, Israeli and Palestinian former combatants, people who had taken an active role in the conflict, laid down their weapons and established Combatants for Peace. The egalitarian, bi-national, grassroots movement was founded on the belief that the cycle of violence can only be broken when Israelis and Palestinians join forces. Together they work to bring peace, justice and equality to both peoples. Combatants for Peace is the only organization, worldwide, in which former fighters on both sides of an active conflict have laid down their weapons, choosing to work together in pursuit of a better future. They have been twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, 2017 & 2018.

This event is open to all members of ChaiVillageLA, Temple Emanuel and Temple Isaiah as well as interested community members. Register here or contact the office at 310.871.2721 or Admin@ChaiVillageLA.org.
