Make a Difference with Our Big Kitchen LA (OBKLA)!
Searching for a mitzvah opportunity? Join Temple Isaiah and ChaiVillageLA members in preparing kosher meals for those facing food insecurity. Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles (OBKLA) is a community-run, non-denominational kitchen preparing high-quality kosher meals for those experiencing food insecurity. Each session produces about 350 meals distributed through local organizations such as Union Rescue Mission, Jewish Family Service, Fire Victims in Altadena, and A Safe Place for Youth. Temple Isaiah has partnered with OBKLA for the past five months and will continue for another seven, offering this meaningful volunteer opportunity to ChaiVillageLA members.
It’s a joyful, hands-on way to give back and connect with your community—many volunteers say it’s the most rewarding two hours of their month!! A $25 participation donation helps cover the $1,800 cost of each session, but everyone is welcome regardless of ability to contribute. Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes and bring a cap or hair covering; children ages 5 and up are invited to join in this hands-on act of kindness. Friends and family members are also welcome.
