Join us on November 19th at 6:30 PM. to see each other’s faces and be prepared to start our discussion and small group breakout event promptly at 7:00 PM. From the American journalist that brought us The Warmth of Other Suns about The Great Migration, comes Isabel Wilkerson's second book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. This book is a powerful treatise of the systems and structures of hierarchy in America through the lens of caste making a new critical intervention on discourses of race and history in America. By identifying and defining a set of pillars that she sees as the central characteristics of the caste systems operating in India and historically in Nazi Germany, Wilkerson demonstrates how these pillars also exist in the United States.
